Over the past decade, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office has held a November canned food drive during its November DARE Dance to help a local food bank during the holiday season. Last year, the Sheriff’s Office raised and donated seven boxes of canned food to Bread for Life food pantry.

On November 7, 2014, the Sheriff’s Office will host its only DARE Dance during the month. Dancers who bring two canned food items with them the night of the dance can get in for $3.00. All food collected will be donated to the St Vincent de Paul food charity for distribution to local families through the Sacred Heart Parish, in Troy.

The Society of St Vincent de Paul is an international Catholic voluntary organization dedicated to the sanctification of its members through serving the poor and disadvantaged.

  • Spinal Screening Program

    Dear Parents/Guardians,

The Lincoln County R-III School District is going to conduct a spinal screening program to detect students with a possible curvature of the spine (scoliosis) on November 7, 10, and 12.  According to statistics, 7 to 10 children in every 100 may develop scoliosis; and 1 to 3 will require evaluation by a health professional. Some children develop a condition called kyphosis, an abnormal hump in the upper back. If the conditions are detected early, and appropriately treated, progressive spinal deformity can be prevented.

The procedure for screening is a simple one in which the screener (female nurse) looks at the child’s back in a standing position and in a forward bending position. Only 6th grade girls will be screened at this time. Females will be screened in the girls’ locker room and will need to wear a sports bra, a tight tank top, or a swimming suit top. Privacy will be provided. All students who fail the first screening will be rechecked before a referral for further evaluation is made. Students that display a suspected curvature will bring home a referral note asking parents to take the student to a pediatrician or specialist for further evaluation.

If your child is currently under active treatment for a spinal condition or if you would rather not have your child screened, please notify the school nurse, Rachel Sparks, at 636-462-4934 or 462-5078.

  • Dear Parents:

We have exciting news! Our school is participating in the Tyson Project A+program, a

fund-raising program sponsored by Tyson Foods, Inc. Through this program, we can

raise up to $12,000 for our school this year! The money can go towards supplies,

building improvements, school programs, or anything else we choose. It’s an easy way

to raise much needed funds by sending Tyson Project A+ labels from products you

    probably already buy.

Here’s how it works: Just clip and collect Tyson Project A+ labels from participating

Tyson® product packages and send them to school with your child. We’ll collect the

labels and send them to Tyson Foods, and Tyson Foods will send our school a check.

    Each label is worth 24¢!

    Thank You,
