Are Zoom calls mandatory for students?
Canvas, Zoom and/or Google Meet are the online platforms used to help deliver weekly, live and recorded instruction from the classroom teacher. The teachers will provide direct instruction as well as follow-up with tutorials. Teachers will utilize Canvas to manage online learning (i.e. announcements, assignments, feedback). Students are expected to attend scheduled meetings.
Students are expected to have daily engagement with courses through Canvas, Google Meet and/or Zoom. If there is no contact/activity by a student for four days, teachers will email and/or call the student/parent and document in SIS parent contact log. If there is no contact for 5 consecutive school days, the teacher will notify the administration with the name of the student. Administration will attempt to contact parents and/or conduct a home visit (if necessary) and can notify authorities (if necessary).
If/when a student is chronically absent from school and/or is not regularly completing assigned work, administration may require the student to return to In Person learning during the semester, retain the student (elementary/middle) and/or revoke credits (high school).

I and/or my child feels anxious about coronavirus. What can I do?
It is natural to be concerned about a new illness. Remember that according to our state and local health departments, the risk to the LCR3 community and to the U.S. population as a whole is currently low. If you would like to talk with someone, the following mental health services are available to students and staff:
- Students can talk with their school counselor or school nurse.
- Families and parents can call the Missouri State Department of Health and Senior Services Coronavirus hotline at 1-877-435-8411.
- Staff can access our Employee Assistance Program (EAP), a free, confidential program available to LCR3 employees.
-
How does LCR3 clean and disinfect?
Hard surfaces and frequently touched areas such as stair rails and doorknobs are wiped down with a disinfectant solution frequently. Increased cleaning protocols have also been implemented for buses.
In addition, here is a list of areas our school custodians clean daily:
- All doorknobs
- All stair handrails
- All elevator doors/buttons
- All light switches
- All drinking fountains
- All crash bars on doors
- All sink faucets
- All urinal/toilet handles
- All dispensers
The district also utilizes an electro-static virucidal process at each location weekly that aids in sanitizing all surfaces.
-
If I keep my child home from school due to concerns about coronavirus, will the absence be excused?
As a parent, it is up to your judgment to keep your child home due to a health concern.
Some children and staff may be at higher risk for severe illness because of underlying health conditions or a weakened immune system. Public Health advises that families consult with their healthcare provider to decide the best course of action.
-
How is LCR3 preparing for the possibility of widespread illness?
The district has outlined a Pandemic Plan. We are currently in Stage IV.

Do you have any resources I can use to talk to about the coronavirus with my child?
As adults, it’s important we remain calm with our actions and words, and share factual information. Sharing accurate information during a time of heightened concern is critical. One of the ways we can protect our community from illness is to keep rumors and misinformation from spreading.
We have several resources available on our website you can find them here COVID19 Resources
