Superintendent's Message

  • Welcome to the Lincoln County R-III School District! R-III is an outstanding district where all stakeholders in the education community value education and set high standards for results.

We are Missouri’s 26th largest school district (out of 562) with an enrollment of 6,400 +/- students in grades Pre-K through 12, and we are currently home to 13 schools as follows:

    • 1 Early Childhood
    • 7 Elementary
    • 2 Middle schools
    • 1 Ninth Grade Center
    • 1 High school
    • 1 Non-Traditional High School

R-III encompasses 238 square miles, incorporating the areas of Hawk Point, Troy, and Moscow Mills.  We have a fleet of 87 buses, and we safely transport 4,400 students per day.  Our Department of Transportation has received the “Fleet Excellence” safety award from the State of Missouri for the last 15 years.

Although one of the largest school districts in Missouri, we are in the bottom 25% for spending rate per pupil. R-III has a strong history of fiscal fidelity and accountability.

In my opinion, a few things that set us apart from the crowd are:

    •  community pride & partnerships
    • Education Foundation enhancing learning through grants (a total of over $500,000 awarded to teachers and classrooms to date)

    • engaged, committed, and supportive Board of Education

    • management of our growth in student population in spite of stagnant or decreasing tax base

    • meeting the basic needs of our students to enhance their learning through organizations like Bright Futures (implemented in October 2012) and Buddy Bags (in 2012 served 60 students and currently serving 400)

    • meeting the needs of ALL students through student services/special education, gifted, advanced placement, and dual credit college courses

    • passing a .75¢ operating tax increase in a recessed economy

    • positive influence on our community with facilities and construction

    • protecting our highly valued faculty & staff during budget cuts ($6.1 million), which included a 3-year salary freeze

    • providing a wide variety of student opportunities for award-winning co-curricular/ extracurricular activities

You and your family can regularly receive up-to-date, relevant information on District and/or school events through our website simply by subscribing to news and calendar additions from the school or schools your children attend.

I strongly encourage you to download the Lincoln County R-III School District app (at no cost); you can find the R-III app in the Google Play or App Store.  Explore my column in the Lincoln County Journal.  The District itself and all 13 schools are active on Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube.  Find us, follow us, and stay informed!

I look forward to working with you and your child(ren) in our mission to enable all students to learn the skills, acquire the knowledge, and develop the attitudes to reach their full potential as responsible citizens able to meet the challenges of a global society.  In the Lincoln County R-III School District, we are “building trusting relationships and providing superior instruction” from bell to bell each school day.  Thank you for your show of support by entrusting us daily with your most cherished possession and our nation’s most valuable resource – our children.

    Yours in education,
