A Message from the Superintendent
Students, Families, and Community Members,
Welcome to the Lincoln County R-III School District! R-III is an outstanding district where all stakeholders in the education community value education and set high standards for results.
We are Missouri’s 25th largest school district (out of 518) with an enrollment of 7,000 +/- students in grades Pre-K through 12, and we are currently home to 13, soon to be 14, schools as follows:
R-III encompasses 238 square miles, incorporating the areas of Hawk Point, Troy, and Moscow Mills. We have a fleet of 82 buses, and we safely transport 4,500 students per day.
R-III has a strong history of fiscal fidelity and accountability.
In my opinion, a few things that set us apart from the crowd are:
the LCR3 Education Foundation that enhances learning through grants (a total of over $1,000,000 awarded to teachers and classrooms to date)
an engaged, committed, and supportive Board of Education
the ability to meet the basic needs of our students to enhance their learning through organizations like Bright Futures (implemented in October 2012) and Buddy Bags (in 2012 served 60 students and currently serving 600+)
the ability to meet the needs of ALL students through student services/special education, gifted, advanced placement, dual credit college courses, and dual enrollment online learning (6-12)
a positive influence on our community with facilities and construction
we provide a wide variety of student opportunities for award-winning co-curricular/ extracurricular activities
The best place for you and your family to regularly receive up-to-date, relevant information on District and/or school events is through our website. Additionally, I strongly encourage enrolled families to download the ParentSquare app from your Google Play or Apple App Store for all of your communication needs. The District itself and all 13 schools are active on Facebook, Twitter (X), and YouTube. Find us, follow us, and stay informed!
I look forward to working with you and your children in our mission to enable all students to learn the skills, acquire the knowledge, and develop the attitudes to reach their full potential as responsible citizens able to meet the challenges of a global society. In the Lincoln County R-III School District, we provide “exemplary experiences, trusting relationships, and superior instruction” from bell to bell each school day. Thank you for showing support by entrusting us daily with your most cherished possession and our nation’s most valuable resource – our children.
Yours in Education,
Mark S. Penny, Ed.D.
