Buddy Bags

Buddy Bags

Buddy Bags is a program started by the Lincoln County R-III School District in 2011. It provides food for students/families in the district who may need a little extra help feeding their families on the weekends. Each bag supplies a child in the program with enough food for 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, and 4 snacks for the weekend.

We currently feed approximately 500 students each weekend (pre-kindergarten through high school).

  • Food for the program is gathered from your donations of food and finance. To feed all of our students in need, it is also necessary to supplement those donations with a purchase from local grocery stores.

  • Each bag costs approximately $6.00 per child, per week.

  • You can donate non-perishable food or money to support the program. While Buddy Bags won’t turn away any donations, a list of preferred foods can be found on our Facebook page, @BuddyBags, or on the district website.

  • Monetary or food donations can be mailed or dropped off at our Central Office, 951 W. College Street.  Please make the checks payable to LCR3, with Buddy Bags in the memo.  In addition, we have several drop off points throughout the community including: Troy Furniture, Peoples Bank & Trust (Kroger location), and Berkshire Hathaway Select Properties.  A complete list can be found on our Facebook page.

  • Community volunteers assemble the individual bags and then place them in totes. The totes are transported to buildings and sent home with students on Friday.

  • Please contact Laura Parn, Director of Teaching and Learning Supports, at the Lincoln County R-III School District Central Office, 636-462-4923, or parnl@troy.k12.mo.us for more information.
